Offered by the Wyoming State Forestry Division (WSFD) in partnership with the USDA Forest Service State and Private Forestry branch, the Hazardous Fuels Grant offers financial assistance for fuels mitigation work on non-federal lands adjacent to National Forest System (NFS) lands.
Proposals must complement local National Forest/Grassland hazard fuels reduction projects, and timing between project initiation on NFS lands and non-federal lands should be planned to achieve benefits from proximity and treatment effectiveness.
Grants should be planned and implemented to complement hazardous fuel reduction on NFS lands in high-priority areas, such as those identified in Community Wildfire Protection Plans or equivalent collaborative plans. These lands must share a physical boundary with or be within proximity to show a clear risk.
To maximize benefits across the landscape, treatments should ensure proper sequencing and leverage collaborative resources.
Regions will coordinate hazardous fuel reduction projects with federal, state, tribal, and local partners.
Funds will not be granted to states without Forest Service knowledge of project planning and implementation.
Project costs may include all costs allowable and necessary to plan and implement the projects on non-federal land only.
Proposal funding requests are limited to $250,000.
